DecorumHome – Case study
Introduction
Our client DecorumArt decided to broaden the range of its services with distribution of household appliances of the worldwide known brands (e.g. Arthur Price, Viking, Frevd ). In order to provide clients with a comfortable access to the full offer, an Internet shop was chosen as a main way of distribution.
Analysis
Our client had already had a perfectly designed website DecorumArt based on Joomla CMS. It was assumed that the smart look of the website should be also employed in the Internet shop. The graphic layout was slightly changed in order to make the shop more user friendly.
We chose a solution easy to use both for administrators and clients. We decided to implement a properly adapted component VirtueMart, so that administrators may use the knowledge acquired when managing the website www.decorumart.pl and clients have a strong association of the already known and the newly created brand.
The VirtueMart component meets many of the requirements set by our client: it was designed not only as means of presentation, but also as a way of managing the shop content. It is of crucial importance when selling items of various producers. The aforesaid component supports grouping the contents according to different criteria which is convenient for administrators and clients. We introduced product search by producers whose products are available at a given time. It is also possible to show products by categories or subcategories. We also put on the website a clearly visible display of a randomly chosen product which results in better aesthetic quality and ergonomy of the shop.
Solution
Both the front-end, as well as the background of the DecorumHome were prepared in Polish by means of a language module, which had been slightly modified. We implemented a module cooperating with the system platnosci.pl which enables a convenient conclusion of a transaction and we also introduced some alterations on demand.
It took 90 days to prepare the order, counting from the first modification to the shop opening. This stage was preceded with over a seven day period of analysing and defining the guidelines. The client had the possibility to follow the work progress throughout the project realisation and any remarks were taken into consideration on a current basis.
